Alentejo
The Alentejo is a vast area with flat plains dotted with cork trees, olive groves and hectares of cereal and covers almost a third of the country. However, the vineyards are in the north of the region and mostly stretch from Évora to Reguengos up through Estremoz as far as the cooler Serra de Marvão near the northern border of the region which rises to 865m. The soils are a range of clay, granite, limestone and schist. The grapes are generally Roupeiro, Antão Vaz, Arinto, Trincadeira, Aragonez, Castelão, Touriga Nacional, Alicante Bouschet. We have chosen producers who are based near Évora, Reguengos, Redondo, Estremoz and Portalegre.
